THE POWER OF AGREEMENT
By:
Pastor Carmin Battista
Matt.18:19-20 Again I say unto you, that if two of you
shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be
done for them of my father which is in heaven. For where two or three are
gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Have you ever been at a
band practice or symphony rehearsal when all the musicians were tuning up or
practicing by themselves? No one is paying attention to what the other
musicians are playing. What happens when the conductor taps his wand to
signal the time to begin? All of the musicians focus on the conductor and
begin playing the music that is set before them in the same key at the same
time and it sounds great.
To agree, as stated in Matthew 18:19, means to be in
harmony or symphony with one another. Just like an orchestra or band has to
be playing the same song at the same and in the same key for it to sound
good, we must be in harmony if we want this prayer to work. If we want to
tap into the power that is in agreement there are some things we need to
keep in mind. 1) We must ask in agreement. Many people discuss something
they are praying about and another person says I agree with you. However we
must ask God, not just say I agree. Even though we are in agreement or in
harmony and symphony with one another we want God in agreement with us
according to His Word, or the prayer won’t work. Also when you pray, ask in
faith without wavering (James 1) if you want it to come to pass. 2) We need
to stay in agreement until we see it come to pass. Don’t let symptoms of
doubt enter into your mind causing you to miss out on seeing your prayer
come to pass. 3) Keep praising God for the results before any physical
evidence shows up. This is calling those things which be not as though they
were as in Rom 4:17. This also brings honor and glory to your Heavenly
Father. Remember, God is not legalistic about prayers coming to pass,
however, the devil is. The Word promises us it will come to pass if we stay
in faith until we see the physical evidence.
