Receiving All the Time

Pastor Carmin Battista

There are times when all of us have failed to receive the things we’ve asked God for. This is not the time to blame God, but rather a time to evaluate what we are doing. For example, the people in the book of Haggai had sown much but reaped little so the Lord gave them this word in Haggai 1:5, “Now therefore, thus saith the Lord of Hosts; consider your ways”.  When we have failed to receive from God it is always us missing it, it is never God.

Here are few things to keep in mind when considering your ways.  Follow the steps in Prov. 4:20-27:  1- Attend to his words, 2- make your ears hear and your eyes see, 3- keep them in the center of your heart.  Then turn to Joshua 1:8-9, “This book of the law shall not depart out of you mouth”.  It goes on to say, “meditate in it day and night, then you will do all that is written therein, then you will have good success and prosper in all that you do”.  In other words, when we meditate on God’s Word, we will have God’s wisdom and when we follow his wisdom we can’t fail!!

Next, we must consider how we are treating people.  1 Corinthians chapter 13 tells us that if we walk in love we will never fail.  First, we must make the changes that the Holy Spirit leads us to make. Then, we must cast down those thoughts that say we are never going to receive. (see 1Corinth 10-4)   The mind is where we fight the fight of faith.  If the devil can get us to meditate on his lies instead of God’s truth then he won’t have to defeat us, we will defeat ourselves!  Before long we will find ourselves talking defeat instead of saying what God has already said.  Remember, just because pressure is present doesn’t mean we have to give in to it.  Pressure is the devils’ way of trying to get us to cave in and quit. We have the authority over the devil so exercise that authority in the name of Jesus.

Lastly, we must let the Word fight its own fight by giving it time to complete the job. Once faith in God’s Word has been released, we must let patience have her perfect work (James 1:4).  Don’t be moved by how much time it seems to be taking.  Faith doesn’t care how much time it takes.  Faith sees it done before we can see or touch it in this natural realm.  Remember, we are to Shout while the walls are still up, then when it shows up we can say. ‘I knew it all the time because I rejoiced when I received it back when I prayed’. Any one can shout after they see it!

I believe that following these simple steps will cause success if we won’t cave in, grow weary, and quit.  Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day.  Give it time and it will happen.
